Suction or vacuum excavation has been operating within Europe in excess of 15 years, and in Australia since 2015. Vacuum excavation avoids the requirement for invasive digging methods such as hand digging or the use of traditional mechanical excavators, thereby virtually eliminating possible cable or service damage. Its advantages compared with traditional hydro excavation include the elimination of producing sludge, costs of back fill, downtime and many more.

Within Europe, this safe dig approach is now a highly accepted and requested method of safe excavation, with more and more companies and industries using the technology to help reduce service strikes, pollution and more importantly avoiding possible injury.

Air flows through the machine’s intake nozzle and hose into a series of chambers, including the main material storage tank, before passing through a micro-mesh filter system and then out into the atmosphere, eliminating dust and other pollutants.

When an operator directs the machine’s intake nozzle at the ground to be excavated, the airflow pulls the ground material into the suction excavator, and this material is deposited into the main storage tank. It can then be reused.

Small soil particles drop into a further two smaller tanks, and any dust particles are caught in the micro-mesh filter system before the air finally passes from the machine. If the ground conditions prove to be more challenging, the trained operator will then use an air lance, soil pick or other air tools that are connected to the vacuum excavator.

These tools assist in breaking the ground free. This will then allow the airflow to catch the material and then remove it into the vacuum excavator.

Non-Polluting

  • No water used in the MTS excavation process
  • No slurry waste generated
  • Fewer road miles, with no travelling to waste sites
  • Material excavated can be reused on-site

Economical

  • No waste disposal costs
  • Less fuel costs with no travelling to disposal sites
  • No backfill costs as excavated material can be reused
  • Single person operation, meaning 50% saving on staffing costs

Efficiency

Our management team have been involved with suction technology since 2004 in Europe and since 2012 in parts of Australia.

They have a wealth of expertise in its use across many industries and projects so when you talk with any of our team you will receive the benefits of this knowledge and your questions will get straight answers. We know the limits and the benefits of using these machines and will ensure that you will too.

If hiring a vehicle from us you will find our service rates competitive and we can tailor hires and manning levels to your requirements, from short term spot hires to longer term contract hires. No other operator can offer our level of service, service back-up and industry knowledge.
